Unveiling The Ultimate Summer Reading List: Dive Into These Must-Read Books In 2023!

I have wonderful news for you, fellow book enthusiasts, whether you’re a kindle lover or a hardcover die-hard. Did you know that reading has the remarkable ability to lower stress levels by up to 68%? Yes, you read that right!

According to a study conducted by the University of Sussex, immersing yourself in the pages of a captivating book can work wonders for your well-being, often surpassing other stress-reduction methods in terms of speed and effectiveness.

I don't know about you but, as an entrepreneur, I often find myself needing to regulate my fight-or-flight system. That's why I've discovered that utilizing reading as a go-to approach for stress relief has been an absolute game-changer for me. It not only helps me unwind and escape the pressures of the day but also provides an invaluable opportunity to expand my knowledge and broaden my horizons.

To keep things interesting, I like to read a combination of fiction and nonfiction books at the same time. It's like having a double dose of literary bliss!

Given these, grab your reading glasses, find a cozy spot, and let’s jump in.

These are the books I currently have on my list or have read and adore:

Fiction

  • Can’t put it down, read; The last thing he told me; Laura Dave

    • This novel is part of Reese’s book club and will be (if not already is) a TV show

    • I read this book in less than a week, I probably would’ve finished it in days but; I am a slower reader and I had responsibilities to tend to

    • Also gave it to my mom and sister, we all like different kinds of books and they finished it at equal speeds.

  • The slow and steady read; In Polite Company; Gervais Hagerty

    • Just started this, great for evenings before bed or a nice late Sunday afternoon by the pool

    • So far it has helped me fall asleep and avoid overindulging in Netflix or keeping me up late on TikTok or Insta

  • The airport purchase on your next vacay, Beach Read; Emily Henry

    •  It’s definitely a love story with a bit of that rom-commy vibe but it’s not as kitschy as you may think, I read this on the beach in Cape Cod and finished it in the week I was there

Personal Development -

I am a big personal dev junkie but I tend to read these slower and sometimes I pull an Audible and listen to them.

I tend not to do too many back-to-back personal development books because I have learned that information without implementation leads to my frustration. But here is what is in my cue now:

  • 8 Rules of Love by Jay Shetty

    • Love is a big subject that a lot of people have options on, so I was skeptical but also curious- so far worth my time.

    • This one is great for commuting or in lieu of a podcast. There is a focus on self-love which, I appreciate and Jay includes meditations on the subjects he discusses.

My “go-to”’ re-reads -

  • Mindset; Dr. Carol Dweck

    • This was recommended to me by a physician I used to work with at Penn about 6 years ago. This book definitely shifted a lot for me and the content is still highly relevant, I highly recommend it.

  • We Should All Be Millionaires; Rachel Rodgers

    • For anyone who wants a little support with their money mindset. In the audible version, there is a list at the end of 100 reasons to become a millionaire, each one is great to re-listen too.

Business Minded -

  • Profit First; Michael Michalowicz

    • Very curious about this book!! A fellow entrepreneur had read this and it intrigued me to purchase it! Haven’t started yet but it’s in my cue and comes recommended

What are your ‘go-to reads’ or something you are excited to read this summer?
